Services

NextUp is a program that provides support services for current and/or former foster youth to assist them in achieving their educational goals. NextUp aims to serve as a resource for these students by providing the following services which include, but are not limited to:

• Academic, career, and personal counseling
• Textbook and supply grants
• Tutoring and student success workshops
• Food and transportation assistance
• Referrals to a variety of community and campus resources

Eligibility

• Have experienced foster care on or after your 13th birthday and no older than 25 years of age when the school year begins

• Provide verification of foster care status in the form of a Foster Care Verification Letter (Ward of Court Letter)

• Be enrolled in at least 9 units, or provide a DSPS accommodation letter confirming the ability to take fewer than 9 units.

  • Students enrolled in fewer than nine units may be accepted into the program if such enrollment is part of an education plan designed to move the student toward enrollment in at least nine units the following semester.

EFFECTIVE FALL 2025: Students must meet EOPS and NextUp requirements separately
